day 1:
arrival: to bhagdogra airport and transfer to phuntsholing via comfortable transport – upon reaching phuntsholing, your tour guide will take you to make your permit if the office is open while you reach at immigration office after that we go back to the hotel and rest. overnight at phuntsholing hotel
day 2: phuntsholing
thimphu drive towards thimphu which is our capital for 5 hours,check into the hotel and if time permits we go for some sightseeing and evening stroll around the town. overnight at thimphu. pema yoeseling villa
day 3:
thimphu-thimphu thimphu is a small, charming capital city nestled in the heart of the himalayas with a population of about 100,000 people. thimphu is capital town of bhutan and the centre of government, religion and commerce. it is a unique city with unusual mixture of modern development alongside ancient traditions. although not what one expects from a capital city, thimphu is still a fitting and lively place. home to civil servants, expatriates and monk body, thimphu maintains a strong national character in its architectural style. and we visit the following places: memorial chorten: this stupa was built in 1974 in the memory of bhutan’s third king, his late majesty the king jigme dorji wangchuk, who is popularly regarded as father of modern bhutan. the paintings and statues inside the monument provide a deep insight into buddhist philosophy. takin reserve: see the famous national animal of bhutan called the takin. these odd-looking creatures have a very strange shape and a very strong smell. locals believe that it was created by the famous lama drukpa kuenley (popularly known as “the divine madman”). it was said that to make the takin, he had joined the head of a goat and the body of a cow together. enjoy another beautiful view of thimphu city from a different angle from this point. -shopping for fresh vegetable market to prepare dinner at my place with the family and after shopping visit tashichho dzong,it has been the seat of the government since 1952 and presently houses the throne room and offices of the king, the secretariat and the ministries of home affairs and finance. other government departments are housed in buildings nearby.and we visit buddha point if not visit early morning before departing for paro. buddha point: visit the world’s largest sitting buddha, an immense statue housing a monastery and visitors center. enjoy a stunning view of thimphu city from this point. evening: explore thinphu towm/handicrafts stall overnight in thimphu:
day 4: thimphu
paromorning we drive for paro from thimphu en-route we visit tamchog monastery. afternoon: visit following place in paro: rinpung dzong: built in 1646 by shabdrung ngawang namgyal, the first spiritual and temporal ruler of bhutan, the dzong houses the monastic body of paro, the office of the dzongda (district administrative head) and thrimpon (judge) of paro district. the approach to the dzong is through a traditional covered bridge called nemi zam. a walk through the bridge, over a stone inlaid path, offers a good view of the architectural wonder of the dzong as well as life around it. it is also the venue of paro tshechu, held once a year in the spring. national museum: ta- dzong (the watchtower) one time watch tower built to defend rinpung dozng during inter-valley wars of the 17th century, since 1967 ta dzong is serving as the national museum of the country. it holds fascinating collection of art, relics, religious thangkha paintings and bhutan’s exquisite postage stamps. the museum circular shape augments its varied collection displayed over several floors. kyichu lhakhang – it is one of the oldest and most sacred shrines of the kingdom dating back to 7th century (the other is jambey lhakahng in bumthang). the lhakhang complex is composed of two temples. the first temple was built by tibetan king, songtsen gampo in the 7th century and in 1968, h.m. ashi kesang, the queen mother of bhutan, built the second temple in original pattern. in the evening walk through paro town. -farm house: visit a local farm house and experience authentic bhutanese life style and enjoy the local hospitality. it offers a good glimpse into the lifestyle of a farmer of bhutan. evening: explore paro town. overnight in paro. kuenphen hotel.
day 5: paro- hike to taktshang, tiger’s nest
bhutan’s most scenic icon or the most important landmark, taktshang the tiger’s nest clings to the side of a steep cliff 300 meters above the paro valley. the place was first visited by guru rimpoche, founder of the tantric form of buddhism in himalayan countries, in the 8th century. it was said that he meditated there for about three months. the original temple was built in the 17th century, but tragically, it was consumed by fire in 1998. like a phoenix, the temple was rebuilt to its fullest glory in 2003. takshang is considered to be the 10th-holiest site in the buddhist world. you can visit three different temples inside the main takshang complex. riding ponies provided upon request. afternoon: relax and enjoy.
day 6:
transfer back to phuntsholing early morning and then to bhagdogra
