day 1: arrival and transfer to phuentsholing
our representative will be there to receive the guest at new jalpaiguri railway station (njp) / bagdogra airport (ixb) / tenzing norgay bus stand (junction). he will assist in reaching phuentsholing/jaigaon.
phuentsholing is 170 kilometers and a 6-hour drive from siliguri. phuentsholing lies on the india–bhutan border — the indian side is called jaigaon, and the bhutanese side is called phuentsholing.
foreigners need to have bhutan visa clearance documents if they want to visit the rest of bhutan. they should carry passport-size photos and passports along with the visa clearance documents. foreigners without proper documents won’t be allowed entry into bhutan. indian nationals don’t require a visa or passport to visit most of bhutan, but any identity document like an election commission id card is required. permit is not required for visiting phuentsholing only, but is required for other parts of bhutan.

day 2: transfer to thimphu after permit formalities
morning breakfast. passing through the beautiful landscape, we proceed to thimphu (2320 meters / 7656 ft), 172 kilometers and a 7-hour drive from phuentsholing.
thimphu, the capital of bhutan, is a beautiful valley with a mixture of modern facilities and traditional culture. thimphu valley has cradled its culture and tradition in a sustainable manner since 1216. the valley is surrounded by hills and provides outstanding views. adventure sports like hiking, trekking, river rafting, and wildlife excursions are available here. one can witness colorful festivals and dances celebrated in the dzongs of thimphu on festival days. don’t forget to taste the butter tea.

day 3: thimphu sightseeing (full day)
early morning breakfast. drive and visit the memorial chorten (stupa) built in memory of the third king of bhutan, jigme dorji wangchuk, who was called the father of modern bhutan.
next, visit the national library, where ancient manuscripts are preserved; wood craft and painting school; and the handicrafts emporium, which has a beautiful and creative collection of textile arts and indigenous fibers (with future plans to become a center of textile learning).
trashichhoedzong is also called fortress of the glorious religion — the dzong houses the main secretariat building and is the throne of his majesty, the king of bhutan. during the summer months, his holiness je khenpo visits the dzong.
the car will be at your disposal. other places to visit include the national zoo, national institute of traditional medicine, and the traditional paper factory (made from the
daphne plant).
please note it is not possible to cover all the sites mentioned above in a single day.
return to the hotel. in the evening, explore local markets like handicraft shops.

day 4: thimphu to dochula pass and transfer to paro
distance: nearly 100 kilometers | driving time: 3½ – 4 hours
after early breakfast, drive up to dochula pass (3,088 m / 10,130 ft) to take in the view and admire the chorten, mani wall, and prayer flags which decorate the highest point on the road. if skies are clear, the following peaks can be seen from the pass:
masagang (7158 meters)
tsendagang (6960 meters)
terigang (7060 meters)
jejegangphugang (7158 meters)
kangphugang (7170 meters)
zongphugang (7060 meters)
and gangkar puensum, the highest peak in bhutan at 7497 meters
next, drive to paro, visiting simtokha dzong, the oldest fortress of the country, built in 1627, on the way.

day 5: transfer from paro to phuentsholing
early morning breakfast. transfer from paro to jaigaon / phuentsholing — a drive of nearly 190 kilometers, approximately 6½ – 7 hours.
on the way, take a short stop at the confluence of the paro and thimphu rivers, where three different styles of stupas adorn the confluence. drive further through chapcha and later take a glimpse of the famous chukha dam and the magnificent vince waterfall before reaching gedu town.
arrive at phuentsholing by evening and check into the hotel. evening free to stroll around the area.

day 6: departure
morning breakfast. after breakfast, transfer to siliguri / new jalpaiguri railway station (njp) / bagdogra airport (ixb) / tenzing norgay bus stand (junction) — nearly 170 kilometers, 6 hours’ drive.
